Massive support for campaign to save Hornsey delivery office

by Haringey Lib Dems on 9 October, 2012

Richard Wilson and Dawn Barnes campaigning to save post offices

In one weekend over 800 people have signed up to our petition to stop a Royal Mail depot closure which will leave many N8 residents having to travel to Hornsey Road in Holloway to collect undelivered parcels.  Royal Mail is planning to close the Hornsey Delivery Office on Tottenham Lane opposite the train station in March next year – moving operations to Hornsey Road.

The current location is pretty convenient and there are often queues of people collecting items. Not everyone has friendly neighbours who are in all day, or can be at home for a redelivery.

Cllr Richard Wilson commented:

This proposal is completely unacceptable and I really hope that Royal Mail listen to residents’ concerns and keep the Hornsey office open – or find another convenient location in the N8 area for people to collect parcels.  With more and more residents shopping online, they are shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t make their service less convenient.

petition for N4 residents has been launched too as the depot by the Harringay Arena Sainsbury’s is also closing – and moving to an industrial estate on Station Road, Upper Holloway.  Again this is ridiculous inconvenient and I really hope Royal Mail listen and come up with an alternative plan.
